Western Sydney University Institute for Infrastructure Engineering

Institute for Infrastructure Engineering at Western Sydney University is a research only institution that performs research and provides consulting services to the industry under three themes of Structures, Materials and Sustainability.

The theme of Structures has several programs including modular construction and prefabrication and a team of dedicated professional for bridge engineering and asset management.

Our Construction Technology Laboratory (CTL) is one of the best nationwide, holding NATA accreditation No.14711 since 2003 and complies with ISO/IEC 17025:2005 for providing mechanical testing services. CTL is equipped with the state of the art testing instruments, some being unique in Australia including the 10MN Hong-Shan biaxial loading machine.

The institute enjoys the support of 10 academics, 12 postdocs, 10 admin and technical staff and currently has 42 PhD students. We collaborate with many industries including household names such as Knauf, Rondo, BlueScope, Stramit and OneSteel.
