Innovators of permanent modular design.

Angelucci Architects are innovators in permanent modular design and a dynamic architectural practice delivering exceptional solutions that inspire, enhance, and transform the built environment.

With studios in Melbourne, Sydney, Queensland, and Italy, the practice brings together creativity, functionality, and sustainability to create architecture that endures. Their team integrates advanced design research with technical precision, translating vision into manufacturable, cost-effective, and sustainable outcomes. The firm specialises in Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA) and Offsite Construction, delivering modular housing and educational projects that reduce construction timeframes, enhance quality, and improve affordability.

The practice’s modular design and DfMA portfolio is led by Director Enza Angelucci and Senior Architect Lani Fender, who bring more than two decades of combined experience in modular architecture and offsite construction. Enza Angelucci began researching offsite manufacturing in 2010 through postgraduate studies at RMIT University, where she developed a patented modular design system that won the Australian Research Council’s “Future Proofing Schools” competition. This prefabricated model later informed the Victorian School Building Authority’s permanent modular program (2015–2021), which delivered seven new school buildings within three years during the COVID period, demonstrating the scalability and resilience of offsite construction methodologies.

Senior Architect Lani Fender contributes extensive DfMA expertise from her work with Fender Katsalidis Architects and Unitised Building (UB). Her experience includes the research and development of prefabricated materials optimised for sustainability, recyclability, weight, acoustics, and automation compatibility, as well as technical design and documentation for offsite manufacturing and transport logistics, including vehicular transport, cranage, and international shipping. Her project portfolio includes landmark modular developments such as Little Hero Apartments in Melbourne CBD, where 63 prefabricated one- and two-bedroom units were assembled in just five days; Pegasus Apartments in Mitcham, a $11.5 million project delivering 92 modular units using the UB system; and the Crowne Plaza at Changi Airport in Singapore, which utilised prefabricated volumetric hotel rooms (PPVC).

Angelucci Architects has developed significant expertise in Design for Manufacture and Assembly, particularly in modular design for schools and housing. Their work focuses on creating innovative architectural solutions that integrate seamlessly with modern construction techniques, optimising efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and sustainability throughout the entire project lifecycle. As active members of PrefabAUS, the practice continues to promote innovation, gender inclusivity, and affordability through research, advocacy, and collaboration across industry networks.
