About the speaker…

BioPhoto-400x500.png

For our next prefabAUS Talks we will be welcoming speaker Rick Holliday, Chief Executive Officer of Factory_OS, San Francisco. After successfully trialling modular elements from other manufacturers in his apartment projects, Rick decided to establish a factory to manufacture volumetric housing modules. Almost immediately Factory OS was approached by Google to build 300 apartment units for Google employees.

Rick and COO Larry Pace kindly hosted the prefabAUS 2018 US/Canada study tour, where our factory tour included the first project coming through the factory – 102 studio apartments for the homeless in San Francisco.

Factory_OS has advanced rapidly since, evidenced by this July 2019 announcement: Factory_OS Receives Strategic Investments from Autodesk, Citi to Help Address Affordable Housing Crisis in Bay Area and Beyond

https://adsknews.autodesk.com/pressrelease/factory_os-receives-strategic-investments-from-autodesk-citi-to-help-address-affordable-housing-crisis-in-bay-area-and-beyond

For the prefabAUS Talks Rick will take us on this remarkable journey, update us on the latest activities – including the Autodesk and Citi tie-ins - and the path ahead for Factory_OS.

Tackling housing affordability through factory production and modularisation is a natural progression for Rick whose career includes being instrumental in the establishment in 1983 and ongoing success of BRIDGE Housing (non-profit).
