McHugh Steel was established in 1992 as Outback Sheds, then McHugh Constructions, and finally as McHugh Steel by Robert McHugh and Sonja Pressler-McHugh. The company is Australian and family-owned, based in Bundaberg, Queensland. Their main aim is to provide Queensland with personalised constructions and meet customers' needs with flexibility in design and finishes. McHugh Steel has evolved from shed and roofing specialists into modular home manufacturing, with their first in-house modular build underway in 2024. The company builds custom modular homes combining robust steel-frame engineering with aesthetic freedom, designed to Passive House standards with 7-star energy ratings. Homes can be constructed in as little as 4-8 weeks.
