ModnPods is a Gold Coast-based manufacturer of prefabricated modular housing solutions, proudly backed by Queensland Investment Corporation (QIC) through the Queensland Government's $100 million Business Investment Fund. Founded in 2015 by American expat John Christie while studying an MBA at Bond University, the company commercialised a collaboration with Bond University's Transformer entrepreneurship program. ModnPods manufactures architecturally designed pods at their 6,200m² Arundel factory using lean manufacturing methodology similar to vehicle assembly lines. The company has quadrupled its space, tripled its workforce, increased production tenfold, and reduced build times by 70% – from 16 weeks to just 24 days (a new pod every three days). With 70% of inputs sourced from Queensland suppliers and emphasis on recycled/recyclable materials, ModnPods delivers nationwide to commercial clients in tourism, government, and speciality sectors.
