Mike King is one of John Holland’s most experienced Project Directors, now working as Corrections Sector Lead for John Holland’s National Building Group. 

Mike has been at the forefront of key recent correctional projects within this role, most notably the current Cherry Creek Youth Justice Project, Chisholm Road Correctional Centre and the Southern Queensland Correctional Precinct Stage Two. 

Since joining the company 30 years ago, Mike has enjoyed working in a broad range of operational roles. He specialises in complex design and construction projects delivered under diverse contracting models, such as Public Private Partnerships (PPP), Managing Contractor and Design and Construct for correctional facilities, sporting venues, defence and health projects. 

Mike’s career highlights include working on the Melbourne Cricket Ground Southern Stand, the Toyota Manufacturing Plant, Northern Territory Defence projects, Subiaco Oval Redevelopment, Risdon Prison Redevelopment, UTas Medical Science Precinct and the recent Ravenhall Correctional Centre.

Implementation of a Modular Concrete Cell Solution - Case Study: Ravenhall Correctional Centre 

In 2014, John Holland participated in the GEO Consortium’s successful bid for the Ravenhall Prison Project. In response to the tender, which invited innovative solutions, John Holland proposed introducing a modular concrete cell as a solution for secure accommodation. This case study outlines the development of the modular concept from tender to implementation, exploring how the success of this concept was critical to the project’s completion in late 2017.
