Brother Nature is a Sydney-based design-and-build practice founded in 2014 by siblings Andy and Annalise Knight, who grew up in regional NSW watching their parents run a family trade business. That background shaped a philosophy centred on well-designed, well-built, and enduring buildings — with a particular focus on mass timber construction, modern methods of construction (MMC), and high-performance building. The company has grown from a small family venture into a practice known for technically complex, high-performance projects — particularly those involving cross-laminated timber (CLT) and other mass timber structural systems. Brother Nature's capabilities span design, documentation, construction management, installation, and systemisation, positioning the company as a genuinely end-to-end mass timber specialist. Key team members include Andy Knight (Founder, Construction Manager & Project Lead), Annalise Knight (Co-Founder, Strategic & Creative Director), and James Cattermole (Builder, Project Lead & Certified Passive House Tradesperson). The company operates across Sydney metro and the Snowy Mountains, with a stated mission to share what it learns, upskill regional partners, and shape what industrialised construction looks like in practice. Brother Nature is also the team behind Building Elements (buildingelements.com.au), an offsite volumetric bathroom manufacturing platform. The company has been featured on prefabprojects.com and has received industry award recognition.
