Hemsworth Residence
by PIQUE
When devastating bushfires claimed their original home, these clients faced a profound choice: rebuild what was lost or reimagine their relationship with the land entirely. The Hemsworth project emerged as a powerful testament to how volumetric modular construction can deliver not just shelter, but a thoughtful sanctuary that embodies resilience, sustainability, and deep connection to place.
Built as a customised version of PIQUE's Hemsworth floorplan, this off-grid residence demonstrates how prefabricated construction can respond sensitively to personal tragedy and environmental stewardship. Elevated on innovative Surefoot steel stumps and operating entirely off-grid through integrated sustainable systems, the project establishes new benchmarks for environmentally responsive modular design, proving that downsizing need not compromise comfort, functionality, or aesthetic appeal.
