University of Melbourne Dookie Campus Student Accommodation
by Modscape + Modbotics
The University of Melbourne's Dookie Campus faced a critical challenge: how to deliver much-needed student accommodation within strict government funding timeframes whilst creating a facility that would genuinely enhance the educational experience in regional Victoria. Located within Victoria's oldest agricultural college on Yorta Yorta Country, this project required a solution that could respect the campus's agrarian heritage whilst meeting contemporary standards for sustainable, inclusive student living.
Modscape's response demonstrates how volumetric modular construction can address urgent accommodation needs whilst creating meaningful community spaces that support both academic success and personal development. This 85-unit facility, completed using 59 precision-manufactured modules, establishes new benchmarks for regional institutional housing delivery, proving that prefabricated construction can simultaneously serve strict timeline requirements and sophisticated design aspirations without compromising sustainability or community wellbeing.
