Safe Spaces Karratha
by Fleetwood Australia
When The Salvation Army recognised the urgent need to replace an outdated women's refuge in remote Karratha, they faced a critical challenge: how could essential emergency housing for women and children escaping domestic violence be delivered rapidly in one of Australia's most challenging construction environments whilst maintaining the highest standards of trauma-informed care and cultural sensitivity?
Fleetwood Australia's response demonstrates how volumetric modular construction can address society's most pressing needs with exceptional efficiency, compassion, and technical excellence. Completed in just 21 weeks using 38 precision-manufactured modules, Safe Spaces Karratha establishes new benchmarks for emergency housing delivery whilst proving that prefabricated construction can simultaneously serve urgent humanitarian needs and demanding environmental conditions without compromising safety, quality, or community wellbeing.
