In Tennant Creek, Northern Territory, a remote Aboriginal community faced overcrowding, poor thermal performance and energy poverty, compounded by the extremes of Central Australia's climate. Aboriginal-led organisation Wilya Janta sought housing that did more than provide shelter, delivering dignity, cultural connection and genuine climate resilience for Warumungu families.
Modular by SHAPE working with Wilya Janta, OFFICE and Troppo Architects, delivered a three-bedroom home using a hybrid prefabrication method, with 90 percent of the build completed offsite. Manufactured in Adelaide and transported over 1,000 kilometres to site, the home features separate men's and women's verandas, an outdoor kitchen, and mud brick cladding made from local termite mounds, achieving a 7 star NatHERS rating.

Regional Social Housing Developments – Dalby and Toowoomba, by Fleetwood Australia
Delivered under QBuild's Modern Methods of Construction Program, this project provided 28 accessible social housing units across Dalby and South Toowoomba. Designed with Arkhefield Architects and Vabasis, seven low-rise Class 2 buildings each incorporate eight volumetric modules, with 70 percent of the build completed offsite. QBuild's design sprint program and concurrent civil works reduced the 44-week program, enabling tenants to move in within days of completion.

Koongal Low Rise Social Housing, by Ausco Modular
Ausco Modular manufactured and installed 12 two-storey social housing dwellings in Koongal, Queensland, based on designs by Ko and Co and reminiscent of the Queenslander. With 90 percent of the build completed offsite, the homes feature zero-door transitions and integrated stormwater management, achieving a 7 star NatHERS rating and creating 27 local apprenticeships.
