The Uluṟu-Kata Tjuṯa accommodation project

by Ausco Modular

Delivering a high-quality walking experience across the culturally sensitive Uluṟu-Kata Tjuṯa landscape meant building accommodation without roads, heavy machinery, or ground disturbance, a challenge conventional construction could not meet.

Ausco Modular manufactured lightweight, helicopter-transportable pods at approximately 90 per cent prefabrication, working with architect Troppo and head contractor Harrold & Kite. Removable lifting eyes and a purpose-engineered structural frame, validated through full-scale prototyping and aerial trials, allowed the volumetric modules to be lifted and flown into three remote sites comprising sleeping pods, amenity pods and communal Wiltjas, with Corten steel cladding and restrained forms letting the pods sit lightly on the land.

Rowlee Wines

by Modscape + Modbotics

Set among the vineyards of Rowlee Wines in Orange, NSW, this winery restaurant connects the property's 1880s farm buildings with its modern cellar door. Modscape + Modbotics delivered the building using 100 per cent volumetric modular construction, manufactured off-site to minimise disruption to the operational vineyard, with a commercial kitchen and service window supporting both indoor dining and events on the adjoining lawn.
